I’ve said before that in writing assignments, there’s got to be a point beyond just getting the grade. The things we write have to add something of value to the existing conversation on the subject. The same applies to class discussions, and, I believe, in the books and readings we study during the semester. I’d like to believe that most of the things we talked about and read (I know all wouldn’t have resonated with everyone, but let’s go with most) left some kind of impact on you. For me, I Am Malala really added to my knowledge of Pakistan and the US involvement in the Taliban. I also found Malala’s story very inspiring — it helped me get my non-existent issues into perspective.
Now, it’s your turn. Now that we’ve finished reading I Am Malala, what is your answer to the question “So what?” — what have you gotten out of this book?
